9th Annual Summer Invitational Art Exhibition: Space 2010

The Louisiana State University School of Art is hosting our 9th Annual Summer Invitational Art Exhibition: Space 2010, which will run from July 10, 2010 to August 1, 2010 at our beautiful Alfred C. Glassell Jr. Exhibition Gallery in the Shaw Center for the Arts. A public opening reception will be held on July 10, 2010, from 7-9 pm. We are expecting at least three hundred attendees at the reception with a total estimate of one thousand gallery visitors over the span of the exhibition, based on past summer statistics.
The fifty+ participating artists include LSU alumni and local artists. They have been asked to create art in all media based on the theme of Space 2010. We are planning the reception to be very much theme-oriented: Mars bars, Moon-pies and other space food, funky cosmic music, etc. Community art outreach and local artist awareness is part of the LSU School of Art’s mission. We plan to create a fun environment for this event by linking community art to a festive atmosphere.
