The LSU Museum of Art in the Shaw Center for the Arts is located in downtown Baton Rouge overlooking the Mississippi River. It presents rotating historical and contemporary exhibitions. Selections from the permanent collection are always on display. The 3500-work collection includes seventeenth-twentieth-century American and British portraiture, landscape painting, prints and decorative arts, pre-Civil War New Orleans silver, and contemporary American sculpture.
The Manship Theatre offers a unique experience for its theatre audience: 325 front row seats. The theatre, modeled after the style of classic European opera houses, is one of the most beautifully intimate theatres in the United States. With the 11th row as the Manship Theatre's rear seating, the audience member can see eye to eye with the performers onstage, and have a once in a lifetime experience.
The LSU School of Art welcomes you to the Alfred C. Glassell Jr. Exhibition Gallery on the first floor of the Shaw Center for the Arts. Look for our beautiful glass windows on Convention Street and enter into our elegant exhibition space. We feature the finest contemporary art from local, regional and national artists as well as our own talented faculty and students. There is always something new and exciting in the gallery. Come see!
The LSU MOA Store sells an array of boutique gifts for all family members. Handmade items in the store include exclusive jewelry, glass, ceramics, sculpture, and furniture by regional artisans.
The Baton Rouge Digital Industries Consortium (BRADIC) is a public-private partnership that pursues economic development opportunities specifically in Digital Media for the City-Parish of Baton Rouge. We are part of the LSU Center for Computation & Technology (CCT) and the LSU Office of Research & Economic Development. In addition to our economic development outreach, we also work closely with local organizations to improve workforce development, education, research, and community understanding of the Digital Media Industries. In conjunction with the LSU Laboratory for Creative Arts and Technologies (LCAT) we also direct the Red Stick International Animation Festival.
Playmakers of Baton Rouge is Louisiana's premiere professional theatre company for young audiences. Celebrating 25 years, Playmakers continues to uphold its mission of offering entertaining educational experiences for young audiences through live quality theatre. Playmakers offers theatrical opportunities to thousands through season productions, touring company performances, and youth theatre classes and camps.
The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge oversees multiple programs, such as the Community School for the Arts; providing a place for art lovers to explore and create with innovative evening and weekend classes, camps and workshops in the visual, performing and literary arts.
